NEW SWEDEN, Maine — After a one-year hiatus in 2017, the Arootsakoostik music festival is back for its 11th annual event at Thomas Park in New Sweden.

This year’s line-up is set to feature longer performances with fewer musical acts. Tickets are $25, and the performances are scheduled to last from noon until 9 p.m., with gates opening at 10:30 a.m.

Event organizer and musician Travis Cyr will kick off the music by performing with Stay Glad. Other acts featured are: el malo, a Portland-based musical collective, The Rugged, a Waldo County trio, Portland-based Tricky Britches, the Toughcats, Sybilline (formerly known as Hannah Daman and the Martel Sisters), the Mallett Brothers Band, and The Ghost of Paul Revere.

Many bands will be available after their performances to sell merchandise and CD’s. Vendors will include The Lincolnville General Store and Elderflower Farm. Eureka Hall Restaurant will offer brick oven pizzas and lobster rolls, Misfit Farms will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, Winnie’s Restaurant and Dairy Bar will feature ice cream and fried food and the Cup Cafe will offer coffee and smoothies. T-shirts and posters for the 2018 event will be available, and local artist Andrea Peterson will be painting during the July 7 event.

Cyr recommends bringing a good attitude but no illicit substances. Public camping will not be available at the park.
