The car crossed the centerline and went into the ditch on the left side of the road, after which it hit a hard snowbank, causing the vehicle to flip over onto its passenger side and into nearby trees, the trooper reported in a press release issued Saturday afternoon.

Dwyer was not wearing her seatbelt and was thrown into the passenger’s side of the vehicle. Members of the Linneus and Houlton fire departments had to extract her from the vehicle. Both her husband and son were in the vehicle but both were wearing their seatbelts.

Houlton Ambulance transported Dwyer to Houlton Regional Hospital, where she was treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening, according to police.
