HOWLAND, Maine — Six Caribou wrestlers logged third-place performances in their respective weight divisions at the PVHS Tournament Saturday.

Caleb Robbins (138 pound division), Rylee Saucier (120), Matt McCormack (152), Jacob Smart, (220), Angel Riopelle (145) and Ethan Edgecomb (106) all took bronze medals for the Vikings, who scored 74 points to place seventh out of eight teams.

Robbins won three matches as his team’s top point scorer. He owns a 10-3 record so far this season.

Kaden DeMerchant was fourth in the 160 pound division and Tom O’Meara, who weighs 150 pounds but competed in the 170 category, still picked up a victory.

“Right now as a team we are trying to wrestle and dictate our fights, and not get caught into wrestling the opponent’s style,” said Caribou coach James “Chico” Hernandez. “We are developing each individual style to control a match.

“We still need to continue to outwork opponents and wrestle smarter, but I have seen much progress throughout the team over the last 30 days,” he added. “We need to wrestle hard, practice hard and focus. Overall, I feel very good where we are at with this very young team and everyone is doing their best.”

Caribou will host a multiple-team meet including several Penobscot Valley Conference teams on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
