Eleven County teams participate in boys volleyball tournament

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Fort Fairfield Middle High School hosted a Division 2 Aroostook League boys volleyball tournament and came out victorious against teams from across The County on Saturday, March 16.

Teams from Van Buren and Wisdom High School in St. Agatha, came in first and second respectively in Pool A, which also consisted of squads from Ashland, the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, and Central Aroostook High School of Mars Hill.

Greater Houlton Christian Academy finished in first place in Pool B, while teams from Fort Fairfield and Easton high schools tied for second. Fort Fairfiled then topped Easton in the tiebreaker game 25-22. Squads from Washburn, Katahdin Middle High School in Stacyville, and Hodgdon rounded out the competition in Pool B.

In the playoffs, Fort Fairfield defeated Van Buren 25-16 and 25-22, while GHCA beat Wisdom 25-17 and 25-15

In the finals, Fort Fairfield won over GHCA 30-28 and 25-19.

Selected all-star players from Pool A were Manny Deschaine of Van Buren, Mason Sirois of Wisdom, Gabe Page of Ashland, William Whitman of MSSM, and Devin Dionne of Central Aroostook from the first pool. Chosen from Pool B  were Cole Winslow of GHCA, Wyatt Keegan of Fort Fairfield, Isaac Currier of Easton, Aroan Churchill of Washburn, Bradley Hotham of Katahdin, and Josh Forster of Hodgdon.

Colby Langner of Fort Fairfield was named the tournament’s most valuable player.
