Washburn library will introduce knitting class

The Washburn Memorial Library has announced the start of a new club for needle crafters.

The Knitting Studio will hold its first meeting at the library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9.

“Would you like to learn to knit? We will teach you. Do you want help with knitting projects? We will do that,” said Londa Brown, library board vice chairperson. “Would you like to learn new knitting techniques such as turning the heel of a sock, making mittens with thumbs, the 10-stitch blanket, lace or Fair Isle color knitting? This is the place to come.”

All ages are welcome. The library hopes the studio will also be a place for people who would just like to sit and knit with like-minded people to gather. Officials said they are open to do whatever the participants would like.

Some yarn will be supplied for new knitters. Interested participants should wait until after the first class to purchase needles.
