Sheriff’s deputies arrest two in Catholic Charities burglary

MONTICELLO, Maine — The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office has charged two men with burglary after they reportedly broke into the Catholic Charities of Maine warehouse on U.S. Route 1 Thursday evening.

According to a press release from Sheriff Shawn Gillen sent Friday morning, the ACSO received a report of two individuals spotted on a camera inside the warehouse at around 10:15 p.m. Thursday. The individuals were spotted on the cameras by an employee for Catholic Charities.

Deputy Sheriffs Ben Boutilier and Ryan Johnston responded to the call to the establishment and were assisted by the Maine State Police and U.S. Border Patrol. The responding officers reportedly located Larry Carll, 41, of Houlton and Robert Cox, 46, of Monticello inside the warehouse and placed them both under arrest.

Gillen stated the two men were attempting to steal items inside of the office and warehouse. Carll and Cox were taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, where they were charged with burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.
