CARIBOU, Maine — The Center for the Advancement of Rural Living has announced that Annelise Wardwell has recently been hired as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer for the summer.

Wardwell will focus on CARL’s project to revitalize the performing arts in Aroostook County, with specific regard to the Caribou Performing Arts Center (CPAC). A rising junior attending Messiah College and studying for her BA in theatre with emphases on acting, directing and design, she will aid the organization in promoting current and upcoming productions and working towards building a solid donor base to help bring quality entertainment to the area.

She also hopes to be able to assist in bringing about summer arts programing for local children in order to give them the opportunity to be exposed to the myriad of options that the arts have to offer.

A native of Aroostook County, Wardwell is passionate about finding ways to both fund and find quality performing arts pieces to benefit the people of northern Maine.

She said she is incredibly excited to take on this challenge and is looking forward to all that she will be able to do to advance performing arts in the area.
