From the Bunkers – Week of October 2, 2019

We have had a great week at our course, with many of our devoted golfers getting in a few late rounds. The grass isn’t growing as fast and keeping the playing conditions up. The trees are all turning their beautiful fall colors. Now is a wonderful time for you to come and play nine.

The Aroostook League County Regional Tournament was held last Thursday. A total of 26 players from five schools played 18 holes to try to qualify to go to the state tournament at Natanis in Vassalboro in October. The team from Fort Fairfield was the lone team to go, shooting a score of 379. Five individuals qualified for the individual tournament. Low medalist was Chase Coiley, Fort Fairfield, shooting an 81. That was followed by Graham Berry of Ashland with 86, Dawson Watson from Fort Fairfield, 87, Stetson Nicholas from Central Aroostook, 89, and Wyatt Keegan, also from Fort Fairfield at 90. Congratulations to all winners and good luck in the states.

The Lakeside Restaurant is still open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. On Friday, Oct. 25, they will host their annual Harvest Fest. It will feature live entertainment from Paul LaPointe playing all those familiar songs from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s for your listening pleasure. Call Nancy at 694-9494 for your dining reservations.

The golf season is winding down and now is a great time to take advantage of a special opportunity. If you are not a member for 2019, you can buy your membership for 2020 at this years price and play for the rest of this year’s season for free. Call the proshop at 532-2662 for your application. The driving range will be closing this week. And if you are out practicing on the course, please remember to fix your ball marks on the greens and replace your divots in the fairways. Hope to see you on the course.
