Ridge Runners start season prep

Susan Maynard from the Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile and ATV Club has released the club’s schedule of activities for the coming 2019-2010 winter.

The first activity scheduled is the restart of the club’s quilting/crafting group, which is being held today, Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the clubhouse at 10:00. Following the opening meeting, everyone attending will go to lunch as a group. For more information, call Susan at 764-1236.

The first big meeting for members will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17. The purpose of the meeting is information sharing regarding the coming snowmobile season. All members are invited to attend. There will be a directors’ meeting. Planning will take place for the first big event of the year, which is the landowner turkey supper. Lots of help from members is needed for this important event to recognize the landowners who graciously allow snowmobilers to cross their properties.

The following three events are scheduled for November, and members are encouraged to participate.

Nov. 8 and 9 are the dates for the annual yard/craft sale at clubhouse. Sale times will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Remember the sale is supported by donated items from members and friends. Donated items and services will be accepted for the sale.

On Nov. 13, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., the monthly directors’ meeting will be held.

November 16, Saturday, at 6 p.m. is the date and time for the landowner turkey supper, which will be free for members with a paid memberships and for all landowners. If you plan to attend, an RSVP must be received by Susan Maynard at 764-1236 prior to the dinner.

Also, Susan reminds members that help is needed with the food.

Fall craft fair coming

This Saturday Lynelle Foster, Mapleton Daze president, invites everyone to the next Mapleton Daze Fundraiser for the 2020 Mapleton Daze, which will be the Mapleton Daze Annual Fall Craft and Vendor Fair.

The craft fair will be held Oct. 12 at the Mapleton Lions Hall, 1713 Main St., Mapleton. The fair will start at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. This craft fair will be just in time to get your Halloween, Thanksgiving and upcoming Holiday shopping done.

Approximately 30 crafters and vendors will be at the hall for the day. They will have lots of homemade items and vendor items for sale. Again, this is a Mapleton Daze fundraiser. They hold two craft fairs each year, one in the fall and one in the spring.

Mapleton Daze always requires lots of support both in volunteer work and fundraising, so come and support our small community and our local crafters and small business folks.

Tri-Town Seniors

Last week we mistakenly reported the restart of the Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill Senior Citizens group for this week. The restart date of their 2019-2020 monthly luncheons will be Monday, Oct. 21.

For this first meeting, the group will have its traditional opening luncheon of a pancake breakfast for lunch. There will be pancakes galore for everyone attending. Then, starting on Nov. 4, the group will hold potluck luncheons on the first and third Mondays of each month at the Mapleton Methodist Church, from November to June.

The group engages in a wide variety of activities besides having a terrific potluck lunch. They discuss issues such as dealing with dementia, consumer fraud and town issues. Sometimes they just have fun doing craft projects, such as making soap, Christmas decorations or May baskets. Occasionally, there is is a semi-serious Bingo session.

If you are over age 55, you are invited to attend and join the group. Plan on attending the Oct. 21 meeting for a great meal and a pleasant time with friends and neighbors. Please keep in mind the luncheons starting in November will be potluck.
