GHCA holds annual harvest festival

HOULTON, Maine — For the past three years, Kate Mcintyre of Houlton has dropped into the harvest festival and public auction at the Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

The annual event is held in October to benefit the school, which is located at 27 School St.

“I come to look around and meet people, but I always seem to find something nice for a relative,” she said on Saturday. “I look around so I can find a nice Christmas gift or at least something I can decorate my house with.”

A wide variety of items were up for bid at the event, including quilts, furniture, home decor, gift certificates and more.

There were more than 300 items available for bid at the auction.

All auction items were made possible by the generosity of local businesses and individuals.

Outside, children’s games were taking place and food was for sale as well.

Tracey Cyr was also there at the event.

“I come to this every year,” she said. “It is a great way to see people and also to support the school.”

All of the proceeds go toward GHCA’s annual fund.
