HOULTON, Maine — Airman First Class Jeramie Ledger, son of Peter and Shelley Ledger of Houlton, has spent the last two years serving in the United States Air Force, stationed at Yokota Air Base in Japan.

During that time he received mail from some youngsters in pre-k at Houlton Elementary School. In a recent visit to his hometown of Houlton, Ledger decided to have lunch with several of those students who are now in kindergarten. They also surprised him with a special cake made for the occasion.

Ledger will be stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland later this month. He was very appreciative of receiving the pictures and notes from students back at his own elementary school and it brightened his spirits, being so far away from home.
