Wildcats win against Black Hawks after early lead

HOULTON, Maine — The Presque Isle hockey team scored early and often Tuesday at the John Millar Civic Center in Houlton against the Houlton-Hodgdon-Southern Aroostook-Katahdin Black Hawks.

 

The Wildcats jumped to a quick 4-0 lead in the first period before the Black Hawks finally got on the board, to make it a 4-1 affair. The Black Hawks were unable to crease the net in the second period, but did put in two goals in the final frame.

Presque Isle won 10-3 to improve to 1-1 on the season. The Black Hawks are now 0-2 on the year.

Colby Carlisle led the way for the Wildcats with two goals and five assists. Connor Demerchant added three goals and four assists, while Gage Letourneau had three goals and three assists. Jonah Roy had one goal. Presque Isle coach Carl Flynn said Dawson Kinney scored the first goal of his high school career as well.

For the Black Hawks, Jason Collett, Logan Swallow and Josh McGillicuddy each had solo goals. 

Elijah Matheson played goal for the Black Hawks, while Brandon Poitras and Bryce Bonville shared net duties for the Wildcats. Shots were 39-18 in favor of Presque Isle.
