DFAS worker attends D.C. conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Carole Belanger-Bittle, the President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 0294 in Limestone, recently attended the union’s legislative conference in Washington, D.C., where she met with U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

Belanger-Bittle works at Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Limestone. Collins addressed the conference.

“As president of AFGE’s Limestone chapter, Carole represents hundreds of dedicated employees in Northern Maine who support the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard by providing crucial finance and accounting services,” Collins said.   

DFAS Limestone employs approximately 600 Department of Defense civilian personnel and provides finance and accounting services to the entire operational Air Force.

  AFGE is the largest federal employee union representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers nationwide and overseas. Workers in virtually all functions of government at every federal agency depend upon AFGE for legal representation, legislative advocacy, technical expertise and informational services.
