23rd annual Fort Fairfield Athletic Boosters Club Golf Scramble is Aug. 15

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The 23rd annual Memorial Day Golf Scramble will be held in memory of Becky McCrea Griffeth who passed away in February of this year. 

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s tournament will take place on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Aroostook Valley Country Club in Fort Fairfield. This will be a four-person scramble with several format changes to this years’ event tournament. 

Tee times will be used this year. Paid teams will have first choice of tee times There will be a lunch served at the 10th tee with beverage. Cash prizes will be awarded and a silent auction will be held with 10 prize packages closing at 7 p.m. 

Teams are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to their scheduled tee time to register. The field is limited to the first 36 paid teams. The entry fee is $65 per person and includes lunch, closest to the pin on five Par 3’s, Boondocks longest drive for both men and women. 

There will be a men’s division, a women’s division and a mixed division (2 men/2 women). This year, all cash prizes will be awarded to the top ten teams Golfers will have a chance to win a 2020 Honda Civic, supplied by Griffeth Honda of Presque Isle, for a hole-in-one on hole No. 15. In addition golfers will have a chance to win $10,000 cash provided by the Par and Grille in Caribou for a hole-in-one on hole No. 4.

The proceeds of this tournament will go to the Fort Fairfield Athletic Boosters Club in their continued support of athletics at Fort Fairfield Middle/High School.
