PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A person associated with Pine Street Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19, according to SAD 1 superintendent Ben Greenlaw.

In a letter sent to the district on Sunday, Greenlaw said that Pine Street will be closed for cleaning on Monday and will reopen for in-person instruction on Tuesday. SAD 1’s health services department is notifying families and staff members who are close contacts.

Greenlaw did not specify whether the individual was a school employee, student or family member, but said that no one from the other district schools have been deemed close contacts.

He encouraged families to contact his office, school nurse Lisa McKenna or their child’s school principal with questions about remote learning, contact tracing or other concerns.
