RSU 29 athletic director resigns

HOULTON, Maine — RSU 29 is once again without a permanent athletic director following the resignation of Phlatt McLean earlier this month.

McLean was named as the district’s part-time athletic director in July when he was selected to replace long-time AD Bruce Nason, who retired at the end of the 2019-20 school year. McLean was also serving as the district’s technology coordinator-integrator at Houlton Middle-High School, a position he started in 2019.

“Phlatt resigned his position as tech integrator and part-time athletic director as he and his family are moving from the area,” RSU 29 Superintendent Ellen Halliday confirmed March 31. “We have advertised for his tech position and are filling in the athletic director position with a couple of staff members for the remainder of this year.”

Halliday said the district would seek a more permanent replacement for the athletic director position by advertising the post later this spring.
