LIMESTONE, Maine — Three members of Scout Troop 193 of Limestone recently earned special awards for merit and service achievements.

Scoutmaster Daniel Cote presented Nicholas O’Neal, Martin Brooker and Jacob Beaulieu with the Hometown U.S.A. Award.

To earn the recognition, each Scouts was required to earn three merit badges from the following list of 12: Citizenship in the Community, Communications, Environmental Science, Fish and Wildlife Management, Forestry, Gardening, Geology, Landscape Architecture, Nature, Plant Science, Public Speaking, and Soil and Water Conservation.

In addition to earning the merit badges, Boy Scouts must also perform a community service project. O’Neal, Brooker and Beaulieu partially removed trash and trees for the Claudette Roy memorial at the Caswell Elementary School, and also worked to clear the nature trail at Limestone Community School.

Many other Scouts also worked on the projects.
