Ark Animal Sanctuary – Week of December 8, 2021

HOULTON, Maine — This past week we received a phone call about a cat spotted pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. The girl asked if we could take it if she could catch it. We agreed.

She made the commitment to go back the next day to try and trap it. She set traps in the woods and checked them throughout the day.

On her last check in for the day at around 5 p.m. the cat was in one of the traps. She called to let us know she was coming. She lived an hour away down in Benedicta. The cat arrived in the trap and we got it situated for the night. It was starving and very scared. We gave it the next day to just relax and decompress before we even tried to handle it.

It is a young cat, very, very thin, but we are able to handle it and it loves to be pet. It is eating like it hasn’t had food in a long time and I think grateful to be out of the cold. We have named her Sara. She is all black with beautiful green eyes.

We wonder how she got out there with no houses around for miles. She obviously hadn’t eaten in a while and the woods were her only shelter. She was so lucky to have been spotted by this very kind lady, who went out of her way to rescue this sweet girl.

Thank you Holly for making Sara’s life a priority and going the extra mile to make sure she was safe. We need more people like you in this world.

Sara will be put on the schedule to see the vet and then she will be put up for adoption. Her life will only get better from here on out. Thank you for your continued support and as always thank you for reading our column.
