DC’s Christmas Miracle

About two weeks ago we received a call from our friends at the Central Aroostook Humane Society. They had just taken  in eight cats as an owner surrender and one of them was diabetic  and they wanted to know if we could help. His name was DC.

Without hesitation we said yes. DC was approximately 11-years-old and needed injections of insulin twice a day. It wasn’t until DC arrived at The Ark and got settled in that we learned his full story.

DC lived most of his life outside as a feral and you can tell from his battle scars he had not had an easy life. He was finally coaxed inside where he enjoyed life for a few months only to be part of an owner surrender. Once again DC was homeless. His chances of finding a new home where someone could afford his insulin and vet visits were slim to none, especially being 11-years-old.

DC was accepted at The Ark where he could live out his days in comfort and get the vet care he needed, but life was about to get a whole lot better for DC in the upcoming days.

A very wonderful lady called to inquire about DC. She had known him from his previous owner and wanted to give him a home. She was financially able to take care of his medical needs and was able to give him his insulin twice a day. DC had touched her heart and she wanted to give him the life that he so deserved. She made the trip of two hours to pick him up and bring him home. She scheduled him for a vet visit to get his glucose levels checked and that Day DC’s life changed for the better.

DC got the best gift of all this holiday season. He got his “furever” home and will never have to worry about anything again. In a world where there are so many sad stories we wanted share this story with a happy ending. Christmas miracles like this happen when you least expect it. Merry Christmas DC  we are honored to have been part of your journey!
