Madawaska boys use second half surge to beat Ashland

MADAWASKA, Maine — The Ashland boys basketball team came to Madawaska Friday, Jan. 14, looking to avenge an earlier loss to the Owls on their homecourt.

After a competitive first half, the Hornets were down by less than 10 points. Early in the second half, one of Ashland’s starters was assessed with his fourth foul and it was all Madawaska for the balance of the game. 

In the end, Madawaska came out on top with a final score of 74-36 putting the Owls at 7-4 on the season. The Hornets drop to 0-10. 

Madawaska was led by Ian Beaulieu with a career-high 31 points, followed by Carson Cyr with 24 points. 

Ashland scorers were led by sophomore Inyas Janoch with 20 points, followed by Cole Eastman with six points.
