EASTON, Maine — Hodgdon took full advantage of a depleted Easton team, rolling to a 61-7 victory in girls basketball action on Monday, Jan. 24.
Multiple members of the Easton Bears were absent for various reasons, so the team was working with a reduced roster for the game.
Hodgdon came out on the attack right out of the gate, outscoring the Bears 14-0 in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the Hawks continue their dominance, scoring an additional 18 points. However, Easton got on the board by putting more focus on offense, ending the second quarter with four points.
After halftime, Easton scored an impressive three-point shot from Madison Seeley, but Hodgdon just continued to add to their total. The Hawks scored an additional 16 points, for a third quarter lead of 48-7.
The game concluded with the Hawks scoring an additional 13 points, while also preventing Easton from scoring again.
For Hodgdon, Anna Oliver led the team with 26 points, followed by Marissa Dow with 13 and Meghan Peters with eight points. Monique Polchies added six points, both Sadie Thompson and Emma Folsom added three points each, and Paige Fitzpatrick chipped in two.
For Easton, Madison Seeley led the team with five points and Amelia Bate chipped in two.
“I could not be more proud of these girls,” said Easton girls varsity basketball assistant coach Kristie Bate. “They played their hearts out when we were working with a skeleton crew.”
Hodgdon improved to 10-1 on the season while Easton fell to 0-10.
