HOULTON, Maine – A celebration was held May 12 at the Houlton Higher Education Center to recognize University of Maine System graduates who had a connection to the Houlton Center.

Family, friends, and staff were in attendance to honor the five graduates who were able to attend. The ceremony recognized each of the graduates and their educational accomplishments.

Raymond Rice, UMPI president, was the guest speaker and offered words of inspiration and congratulations to the graduates. Rice also encouraged the graduates to not be afraid of taking the “next steps” in their future, whether it be big or small.

Graduates in attendance included UMPI graduates Leah Codrey (BA-Psychology), Aspen Flewelling Fitzpatrick (BA-Psychology) and Kiersten Tuttle (Bachelor of Social Work); and USM graduates Michelle Richards (Master of Arts-Leadership Studies) and Tessa Winship (Master of Science-Adult and Higher Education).

After the gift presentations for the graduates, refreshments were served for all to enjoy.
