The County needs people

To the editor:

Please inform governors DeSantis and Abbott to send their future state paid caravans of migrants here to Aroostook County.

We need population, and since there is a well proven track record of immigrants making America great, we want them here.  We need them here.

In 1960, Aroostook County had close to 120,000 residents. Today, in 2022, we have just under 68,000 residents.

Many like to point to the [closure of] Loring Air Force Base as the reason. It’s not. The largest population at the base was in 1993 with a measly 6,900 people conducting base realignment and closure and mothballing the greatest national strategic asset from the Cold War.

We need workers. We need human beings that want to better themselves through opportunity and live the American Dream.

So please, send all future caravans of migrants that you wish to discard from your states directly to Presque Isle International Airport. We’ll take it from there. We’re Americans. We know what to do and help them succeed. Our stock is descended from doing precisely what our ancestors have done to make this the greatest nation on earth.

Thanks for your cooperation and gift. We need the boost to The County’s economy to save it.
