Society hosts successful dinner

The Haystack Historical Society of Mapleton wishes to thank all who came out to support the Haystack Historical Museum last Saturday.

The annual baked ham dinner is the biggest event of the year for the society and a longstanding tradition that has been enjoyed by many residents of Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill.

This year folks enjoyed dinner and were appreciative of being able to dine in the museum or do a drive-thru.    All funds raised will support the museum and its ongoing programs and operations.  Society members thanked businesses who donated products for the dinner.

The society will host Bingo Crazy at the museum at 4 p.m. on Oct. 9. Bingo will be free with many prizes given away.  The society will raise funds by serving a chop suey dinner for $10 for adults and $5 for each child under age 12.   All are invited.

I will teach a four-week course entitled “Introduction to Digital Photo Editing” for Seniors Acquiring Greater Education at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

SAGE is the local Senior College for people over age 50. The course will be offered on Friday mornings From Oct. 7 to Oct. 28 at the UMPI computer lab in Folsom Hall.  Each session will start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m.
