FORT KENT, Maine – Northern Maine Medical Center is thrilled to announce a  groundbreaking partnership with Inspire Rehabilitation, a leader in rehabilitation services. This strategic collaboration marks a significant opportunity for NMMC as we leverage Inspire’s nearly 20 years of experience  to enhance and expand our physical, occupational and speech therapy services. This comprehensive suite of  therapy services is unmatched in the communities we serve and we are excited to deliver them through this  partnership.

With a shared commitment to delivering exceptional patient care, this partnership will enable NMMC to provide a more comprehensive and robust range of therapeutic services. Through Inspire’s expertise, resources, and mentorship, we will not only grow our team of dedicated professionals but also improve access, quality, and coordination of care for our patients. This collaborative effort is designed to meet the  evolving needs of our local communities with the highest standards of care.

Over a decade ago, NMMC made the decision to divest from outpatient rehabilitation services. Now, with the support of Inspire Rehabilitation, we are excited to reintroduce and expand our outpatient therapy services. Our local therapists will soon offer a full spectrum of outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy services. This integration will take place alongside our patients’ primary care providers and surgeons, ensuring a seamless and effective pathway to recovery.

Beginning October 1, patients will have access to our temporary outpatient services space on the basement level of NMMC with designated parking near the back entrance of the hospital. In addition to this, we are excited to announce plans to renovate the current Forest Hill Nursing Home facility, which will become the future site of our dedicated outpatient therapy clinic. This move will enhance our ability to provide specialized care and further our mission of delivering high-quality healthcare to the St. John Valley.

NMMC’s mission of offering top-tier healthcare aligns perfectly with Inspire Rehabilitation’s dedication to strengthening therapy teams in rural communities. By combining our efforts, we are poised to deliver exemplary therapy services and support to all our patients. We are eager to embark on this new chapter and look forward to making a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our community.

“We are extremely excited and focused on responding to a significant need by increasing access to rehab  services for our communities,” said Jeff Zewe, president and CEO of NMMC. “With the recent hiring of Dr. Joshua Mayich, who is anticipated to arrive in October 2024, the timing could not be better with the expansion to outpatient rehab. Primary care, orthopedics and rehab will be working hand in hand coordinating the care of our patients through a service line approach, to ensure the best outcomes for those we serve.”
