BANGOR, Maine — The Northern Maine Moose boys lacrosse team defeated John Bapst 8-5 on May 7 at Husson University.
“A slower start than we wanted but once we gained momentum the team worked well together today,” said coach Simoes. “When multiple players have success that’s a good sign.”
Isaiah Ervin scored three goals and had three assists. Colton Simones scored twice and Brayden Drake and Eli Brown both had a goal while Damion Stuart had one goal and one assist.
“My offensive players clicked today,” Simoes said. “We did a lot of reps in practice and it paid off. I hope this gives my offensive players some confidence in their skills. Our defense did well tonight holding shots to the outside and protecting (keeper Carter Smith). A great group effort.”
Colton Simoes had a near 80 percent faceoff winning percentage, helping the team gain offensive momentum.
The Player of the Game was Stuart, who had his first goal and was able to help the team defensively. He hustled the whole game, it made a difference.
