Remembering Mr. Karnes

To the editor:
This letter is in regard to an icon. Bill Karnes was a great friend, teacher and role model to all whose lives he touched. From the first day I met him at Pine Street School in second grade, he never forgot my name.

It didn’t matter where it was, he came to greet all he knew like it was the last day on earth. It’s something we all need to do more often. With Mr. Karnes I could have a conversation with my 22-year-old son on up to forty somethings like me.
I was unable to attend the Saturday service so I attended the Friday night service. The service was as I pictured it would be — many came to honor and say goodbye to a great friend. We will miss you. God bless all you touched while we walked with you.
