CARIBOU — A Bridgewater woman was indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury last week on one count of arson stemming from a Nov. 12 mobile home fire on Pennington Drive in Bridgewater.
Tim Lowell, an investigator with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, said the trailer had been vacant for a while, but that 33-year-old Stefanie Brewer was spending the night there when the fire was reported around 3 a.m.
Fire gutted the trailer, owned by Brewer’s sister Angela Shaw, and during investigation into the cause of the fire, Lowell said a strong odor of ignitable liquid was detected both at the structure and on Brewer. After further interviews, Brewer was arrested and charged.
When asked about a possible motive for the fire, Lowell declined to comment. He did confirm that there was no insurance on the home.
