Presque Isle city councilors on Wednesday tabled a decision on the 2025 budget until department heads cut another $129,000.
Tuesday’s election was held after selectman Michael Williams resigned on Oct. 11, leaving a vacancy on the five-person board.
Officials have agreed to pursue a special town meeting so residents can vote on whether to add two more members to the selectboard.
Representatives of each campaign work with staff from the secretary of state’s office to manually review each paper ballot, a process that could take several weeks.

The department will receive $55,000 from the city’s American Rescue Plan Act funds to provide new ballistic vests and gear that will stop high-powered rifle rounds.
