CARIBOU, Maine – The 3rd annual Snowmobile Run and Buffet/Auction to benefit Sexual Assault Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The past two events have raised a considerable amount of money for the cause.“Between last year’s event and the one prior, we raised over $30,000,” said Joe Chamberlain, an event organizer.

The money benefits sexual assault services, allowing AMHC to provide services to several hundred victims and significant others in need, according to Jamie Owens, director of marketing and development for AMHC.
“AMHC is looking to raise even more money this year to support the continued fight against sexual assault. Tickets are $50 for the entire day, including the ride, autograph session and buffet/auction or $25 each for the daytime ride/autograph session or the evening buffet/auction,” said Owens.
The event is sponsored in partnership with County Sports and Clukey’s Auto Parts and features loyal supporter and Busch North series champion for 2002-2005 Andy Santerre, owner of Andy Santerre Motorsports.
“Andy and I have been friends for a few years now. He told me he’s bringing along some well-known friends from the auto racing field,” said Chamberlain. “He’s also planning to bring his race car and will have it on display, beginning at County Sports on Friday, then at the Caribou Inn & Convention Center on Saturday.”
Chamberlain indicated those coming with Santerre include a couple individuals from the Hendrick Motorsports team.
“This event keeps getting bigger and better. It takes everyone coming together to make this work,” said Chamberlain.
Sleds are scheduled to depart the Caribou Inn and and Convention Center at 10 a.m. Saturday, heading out for a scenic 100-mile ride bordering the St. John River, up through the St. John Valley and back by mid-afternoon, said Owens.
“At 4:30 p.m. Andy Santerre and his friends will host a social hour and autograph session highlighted by a special sneak peak at some of our highly desirable auction items available for pre-bid. At 6 p.m., a buffet dinner will be served, followed immediately by the main auction, featuring racing memorabilia and collectible items and local dining, retail and services gift certificates,” added Owens.
Tickets are on sale at County Sports in Caribou; Clukey’s Auto Parts in Caribou, Houlton and Presque Isle; or by calling AMHC at 498-6431, faxing 492-3181 or e-mailing pwyman@amhc.org. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. Organizers advise purchasing tickets soon.
