Presque Isle Father/Daughter Dance
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department’s annual Father/Daughter Dance is scheduled for Feb. 9 from 7-9 p.m. as the William V. Haskell Community Center.
The event is open to girls in grades K-6 and their fathers.
Advance tickets go on sale beginning today. The cost is $6 per couple.
Grades 1-2 Little Wildcat Basketball
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has begun registration for the Little Wildcat basketball program for Presque Isle residents and non-residents at the William V. Haskell Community Center. Registrations ends Feb. 13.
The program is offered to boys and girls in first and second grades and will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays after school at the community center.
The registration fee is $15. The program begins the week of Feb. 26.
Big Rock ski passes
Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has discounted lift tickets for Big Rock Ski Area in Mars Hill. Junior (ages 6 to 17) lift tickets will be sold for $14, or 22-percent off the regular price, while adult lift tickets will be sold for $19, or 24-percent off the regular price.
Youth Open Gym
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department has started its open gym hours on Sundays and Saturdays throughout the winter from 1-5 p.m. Grades 1-5 are welcome from 1-3, and junior high and high school students are welcome from 3-5. Available activities include gym games, board games, ping pong, foosball, and pool. There is no cost.
Middle School Only Open Gym
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department will offer a middle school only open gym time on Friday evenings from 6:30-9 p.m. Students in grades 6-8 are invited to come and participate in open gym and other activities. Possible group activities, such as tubing and bowling, may be scheduled for future dates. This is open to SAD 1 students only.
Adult evening activities
Due to lack of participation, Sunday night dodgeball and Monday night volleyball have been canceled for the year. The current schedule is as follows: Tuesday-men’s basketball; Wednesday-dodgeball; Thursday-men’s basketball. All programs run from 7-9 p.m., and there is a $1 fee per activity per night.
Little All-Stars
The Presque Isle Recreation Department is hosting their annual Little All-Stars Sports class. Participants will be introduced to five different sports; soccer, floor hockey, basketball, football and t-ball.
Through games and instruction the focus will be on fun and the basic fundamentals of each sport. The group is open to children ages 4 and 5 and begins March 2.
The fee is $15 to register for the five-week program which will meet on Friday mornings. Registration begins Feb. 14.

Fort Fairfield KofC Free Throw contest
All Fort Fairfield boys and girls ages 10-14 (as of Jan. 1, 2007) are invited to participate in the local level of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Shooting contest Feb. 14 from 3-4 p.m. at the Fort Fairfield Community Center.
Awards will be presented to the first-place finishers in each of the age divisions (girls compete separately from boys). First-place finishers at the local competition in each age group will advance to the district level which will also be held at the Fort Fairfield Community Center. All district winners advance to the state competition to be held Saturday, March 10.
