Fire damages Mars Hill apartment

 MARS HILL, Maine – Firefighters from the Mars Hill Fire Department were called to the scene of an apartment fire downtown early Saturday morning.
    Around 5:55 a.m. crews responded to an apartment complex at 77 Main Street. Upon arrival, it was determined the fire was in an upstairs unit. The building contained four units and housed seven tenants. The fire was contained to the apartment in the rear of the structure.
The tenants of the apartment, Geraldine Thibodeau and her daughter, Amber, were reportedly not home at the time of the blaze. The fire was reported by the tenant in the downstairs apartment directly below.
The remaining apartments in the building sustained smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported as the result of the fire.
Bridgewater Fire Department provided mutual aid. Crown Ambulance was on standby. The American Red Cross had been contacted and is working with the residents to provide for their immediate needs.
The building, owned by Graydon and Jo-Ann McCrum, of Fort Fairfield, was insured.
The fire remains under investigation.
