Winterfest 2007
The Greater Mars Hill Winterfest was from all reports a great weekend of event. I’m sorry that I had to be out of town. There will be a full writeup with pictures in next week’s Mars Hill News.
Girl Scout cookies
Girl Scout Troop 636 will be having a cookie sale on Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mars Hill IGA. Cookies are $3.50 per box. All the varieties will be available including a new flavor for this year – Little Brownie cookie, a sugar-free treat.
You can buy cookies for yourself or as gifts. The troop is also asking for help in their community service project in which they plan to donate a number of boxes to the Community Cupboard food pantry.

Bridgewater Historical Association
Spring is around the corner and soon the BHA will be blooming. The first event of the year will be hosting the Bridgewater annual Town Meeting on March 19. This will be the second year that the town has accepted the group’s invitation to hold the meeting at the old town hall. This year, members will be providing delicious homemade soups to be served before the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. This is in an effort to being back the feeling of the Town Meeting of the past, so come early and enjoy a bowl on the BHA.
The next event will be on April 14. As part of the Bridgewater Recreation Department’s Scavenger Hunt, the BHA will provide six numbered potatoes for the hunt. When the hunt is over, the tater finders are to come to the BHA hall for some prizes that have been donated by members of the BHA. At 1p.m., the BHA Tater Races will begin. The afternoon’s contestants will be the ‘Spudbunnies.’ The races are a lot of fun – don’t miss it!
Other events planned for the upcoming year are a cookie walk (April 28), the Little Miss Bridgewater Pageant (May 12), a Mother’s Day Brunch, a Father’s Day BBQ and Chinese Auctions. Once the weather warms up – the music programs will be starting up again – so watch for updates.
The BHA would like to express their sincerest thanks to those who have given the BHA their continued support. For more information, contact Jann Votaw at 425-7901.
