Aroostook Football announces Patriots ticket fund-raiser

In order to assist with raising funds for development of their lighted playing field on Highway One north of Presque Isle, Aroostook Football announced the launching of a raffle contest featuring tickets to the opening day (September 9, 2007) NFL game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets in New York.
Aroostook Football’s president, Stu Wyckoff provided relevant details.
“We’re very excited to have been lucky enough to receive these four tickets from Dr. Michael Woolland, who has been a big supporter of ours,” stated Wyckoff. “Since all games in New York are sold out every year, a person would never be able to get any tickets to go to a game there. These choice seats are situated between the 30 and 40 yard line eight rows up on the visitors’ side. We’re going to attempt to sell 350 tickets at a price of $100 each. We’ll have two major winners who each get two of the tickets and $2000.00 to help pay for the cost of the trip down for the game. A second place winner will receive $500.00 and a pair of third place winners will receive $250.00 each. The drawing will be held on August 6 at 7 PM at Ruby Tuesday Restaurant in Presque Isle; winners don’t have to be present to win and will be notified by phone.”
This fund raising effort is being undertaken to assist Aroostook Football in paying for the cost of developing a lighted playing field. Dick Engels, one of the founders of the program, stated, “Efforts like this one are going to be essential to our success in obtaining enough capital to complete such a major project. Since we are a non-profit, tax exempt corporation with 501C3 status, we’re hoping that football fans all over the area not only recognize what a worthy project for support this is, but also see the exciting opportunity for a chance to go to a game in person. On opening day, everyone still has a real shot at the title. And the weather ought to be wonderful at that time of the year.”
