Festival features artisans
On June 30 and July 1, the Maple Meadow Farm Festival will be showcasing the work of fine artisans and collections from discriminating antique dealers. There will be a variety of demonstrations, horse-drawn wagon rides, country cuisine, music and more for folks to enjoy. This will be a celebration of ‘country camaraderie’ on an Aroostook County farm with plenty of parking and unparalleled views.
Weather permitting, Belgian draft horses will be baling hay in a four-horse hitch. Other teams from around the state will be plowing, harrowing or demonstrating other farming skills.
In addition to horses, there will also be antique tractor demonstrations.
This event is newsworthy in that it emphasizes past practices
in Aroostook County and would give the public a chance to see horses and mules at work as well as demonstrations of spinning, examples of soap
making and antiques that speak of a bye-gone era. Projects such as this are a positive addition to Aroostook County’s tourism and economy.
