Sympathy
Our sympathy goes out to the family of 92-year-old Elizabeth “Buddy” Parlin, who passed away at The Aroostook Medical Center on June 8. Buddy graduated from the Presque Isle High School 1933 and married Earl Parlin in 1935. She worked for Sears, Roebuck until she retired in 1963 and then became the proprietor of the Easton General Store. She held the degree of Flora in the State Grange and was a noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge Zepher No. 44 of Easton for two years. She was elected district deputy president of four lodges in 1963, for a one-year term. Buddy loved collecting dolls. She also made and dressed many herself. She was an excellent seamstress, a great cook and she also loved to knit and crochet. There wasn’t much that Buddy couldn’t do or didn’t do and enjoyed it all. She has been pretty much confined to her home in the past several years but by the care of her son, Richard, and her granddaughter, Carrie Hull, she was able to live at home. She leaves: a daughter, Rhoda Buckel, of Accident, Md.; her son Richard, of Easton; and her beloved granddaughters, Carrie Hull and husband, Rickie, of Easton; and Rhoda Michaud, of Okahumpa, Fla. whom she raised as her own; and two great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Connie Monteith, and her brother, Arthur St. Thomas. Buddy also had three other grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Her wishes were for a private family viewing and no funeral service.
Our sympathy also goes out to Margaret Rhodes and Gladys Deardon, both of Easton, on the death of their brother, Joseph Hagerman, of Ellsworth. Hagerman, age 76, passed away on June 8. He had worked in the Pennsylvania Highway Department as a mechanic for many years. He also leaves two sisters, in Stroudsburg, Penn. and Mariaville. A private service was held in Stroudsburg.
Pastor Carlos deCruz was called back to Portugal by the death of his mother. He has returned after spending a week there. Our sympathy goes out to him also.

Paul Mullen was taken to the Presque Isle hospital by ambulance several days ago after suffering a head injury. Paul’s hip had been giving him trouble and because of the pain he sat on the grass for a time and when he attempted to get up, fell against a concrete step and hit his head. They kept him there a few days for tests.
