The Central Aroostook High School Class of 2007 graduated on Friday, June 8. The graduates were preceded by eight members of the ACI Class of 1957, who are celebrating their 50th reunion.
The processional was led by Steve Miller, the class marshal (or ‘musher,’ as he described it to one of his teachers). The 22 members of the Class of 2007 marched in to participate in their final activity as high school seniors.
Salutatorian Kaelin Rideout welcomed everyone to the graduation ceremony, and Katelyn Field and Steve Miller sang a vocal selection.
A very memorable slide presentation was shown, and it was easy to see how far this group has come in the 12 years they have been together.
A poem selection was presented by Jenny Crawford.
Valedictorian Jeremy Boulier addressed the attendees as well as his fellow graduates. He told everyone to remember what they have learned in the past 12 years together and to take the lessons learned into their futures. He congratulated his fellow classmates and urged them to remember their roots.
Scholarships were presented by Mrs. Robin Barker, Mr. Emmett “Bud” Porter and Sadie Shaw, guidance councilor. Mrs. Barker told the class that she expects great things from them and to strive to do their best in all things.
Mr. Porter congratulated Valedictorian Jeremy Boulier and told him that the truth of Jeremy’s dad saying that he was number two in his class (so that Jeremy would try to best his dad’s record) – was that Bruce was number two from the bottom!!
A total of just over $56,000 dollars in scholarships was awarded to the class, the vast majority of whom are continuing their education at colleges near and far.
Principal Kevin Grass addressed the class and told them that there are three important things to take into all they do – integrity, intelligence and energy. Without the first aspect, the other two are not as important.
Diplomas were presented by Josh Tweedie – chairman of the Board of Directors, Superintendent Roger Shaw, Principal Kevin Grass and Class Advisor Nola Pendexter. Following the Proclamation of Graduates and switching of their tassels, Class President Nicole McQuade addressed the crowd. She spoke of how the class has always stuck together and urged her fellow classmates to keep in touch.
A receiving line was formed following the candlelight recessional.
Special thanks to Wendy Grass for providing the music for the evening.
Congratulations to the CAHS Class of 2007!
