The Forum enters busy summer season

As The Forum enters the summer season, a great many adjustments take place. Event set up criteria shift back to ice making for the two week summer season and all the equipment not used for ice will be inspected, serviced and/or repaired and stored for the next use. A contractor will clean and service the heating system as well as start and monitor the functions of the ice making equipment.
The office remains busy even when there are no events scheduled into the facility. The Forum contracts to sell tickets for outside events, at the moment we are selling tickets for a concert scheduled for September 1, sends out contracts for its fall events, the Trash and Treasure Sale and Arts, Crafts & Antiques Fair, as well as renting equipment to support surrounding functions. We are also available to book in additional events for later in the season. During the summer ice season office personnel are keeping track of ice time rentals, stocking the concession area as well as making sure enough part-time labor is on hand for the scheduled ice. Last but not least, there is the billing.
This summer is shaping up to be even busier than last year. In addition to the summer ice season, The Forum will host several Northern Maine Fair events, The McCain’s Annual Growers Banquet, A concert with Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Ray Price, A women’s expo, the Trash & Treasure Sale, Arts and Crafts & Antiques Fair and tentatively, a concert with ZZ Top. In addition, Honeywell is performing an energy audit to determine what upgrades or retrofitting may be available to substantially reduce energy usage. Somewhere during all the repairs and additional events vacations must be taken.
While many may think that there is “not much happening at The Forum”, it really is an extremely busy time.
