Summerfest a success
Well, the Ashland Summerfest is done for another year. What a wonderful time with lots of great food and entertainment for all ages. Endless thanks go out to the Ashland Summerfest Committee, the Ashland Fire and Ambulance and all the volunteers for putting on such a terrific event. Next week’s article will include photos and more information about the Summerfest, but for now I can report that on Thursday, Miss Micayla Driscoll was crowned the new Little Miss Ashland.
Five contestants vied for the title and all put on a great show. Contestants included: Abby Walker, Micayla Driscoll, MacKenzie Carter, Gabrielle Wortman and Laura Sturgeon. Mrs. Shari Ward returned as the mistress of ceremonies and as always did a super job. The annual Salmon Supper at Union Congregational Church was again a big success. The many hands of church members and patrons made light the work of the supper and all went over without a hitch. Thanks everyone, whatever your contribution. Belly Boppers during the kids’ games were great fun and the sawdust pile provided hours of serious digging for treasures! Music throughout the Summerfest was fantastic and included easy listening, rock and pop, bluegrass, jazz and gospel. Too Far North provided great tunes during the street dance on Saturday night and the fireworks at the Fish and Game on Sunday evening were a beautiful end to Ashland’s 2007 Summerfest.
