To the editor:
After seeing the sign at Smythe’s IGA, the day the store closed, Bob thanking his loyal customers, I really wanted to say something to him and his family. Grocery shopping is a big part of everyone’s life, whether it’s a daily visit, weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly. Never have I felt as comfortable as I did when I was at Smythe’s during the time that Bob and his family were running the store. I used to go there for everything, sometimes three to four times a day, since I just worked down the block, it was easy access, friendly faces, and great service.
I am very saddened about the closing of the store, but completely understand. Business is business, and sometimes it takes strange and undesired turns. I will have a hard time deciding what store will be the next to get my business, but know that I will eventually have to choose one. Funny how a grocery store can mean so much to a person.
Bob, you and your family were excellent to your customers, always smiling, always pleasant, always there to help, that’s what kept us coming back and made us loyal customers. There really aren’t very many businesses in this area that are as friendly and kind as you and your family.
I know I will find ‘another’ grocery store, because people have to shop, but for me personally, it won’t be the same. I am going to miss going to Smythe’s, as will many, many other customers.
I just wanted to say, as I am sure many people do, “Thank You”, for being as loyal to your customers as we were to you. We hope to see you in the future.
