Balloon Fest minus midway

To the editor:
As the chair of Crown of Maine Balloon Fest committee, I am writing to let you know of an issue that has arisen with this year’s festival. Despite all efforts and negotiations, there will not be a midway this year as advertised.  Our original show backed out, and efforts to contract with another show have failed. The committee is working to bring some kids rides. Our local food vendors will still be there to feed your snacking needs.
With all that said, the rest of the weekend is ready to go, we have some fun family events lined up. On Saturday we will have games for the kids from 11 a.m.-4p.m. Don’t forget the Demolition Derby, local entertainers, Sunday Afternoon Music, and FM in Concert. Please see our website or a brochure for specific times.
The balloon pilots are on their way, and that is what truly makes the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest special. I ask you to hope for good weather, so our skies will be enriched this weekend with beautiful balloons.
