“On behalf of our Advisory Committee of the Aroostook County Branch, along with our board of directors and Executive Director, Suzan Bell, of the American Red Cross Pine Tree Chapter, I would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for your most generous pledge to be used to provide two days of disaster relief for Aroostook County victims of disaster,” remarked Joyce Knorr, Aroostook County branch manager. “This amount being raised through summer ‘Dress-Down Days’ by the wonderful and caring employees of Katahdin Trust Company will help to provide immediate emergency response and preparedness throughout our community.”
Approximately $4,200 in total was collected for the cause through donations.
The Aroostook County Red Branch of the American Red Cross Pine Tree Chapter helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, the staff and volunteers responded to 24 house fires, made over 20 armed forces emergency contacts, and provided 426 health and safety trainings, certifying 2,231 individuals. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross receives is spent on disaster relief.
The American Red Cross is not a government agency and does not receive funding from the state or federal government.
“Thanks to the support of individuals such as those at the Katahdin Trust Company, the Red Cross is able to continue its mission of helping those in need of emergency assistance,” said Knorr.
