DANFORTH — The East Grand Dames Book Group recently completed its 11th season. The group meets in members’ homes in the communities surrounding East Grand Lake in Maine and New Brunswick. One of the annual highlights is the selection of books for the next summer from the many interesting suggestions. The books picked for 2008 are: “Because You Are a Girl” by P.S.G Sharma – the autobiography of a woman from India who comes to the U.S.; “The Red Tent” by Anita Diamant – a novel based on the Old Testament; and “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini – a novel about the lives of Afghan women.
All interested readers are welcome to join the group in 2008. It meets Wednesday mornings the last week in July and the first three weeks of August to accommodate vacationers.
