County Challenge Series Winners will receive awards at the annual banquet of the Aroostook Musterds running club. Runners had to participate in a minimum of four of the nine races that began in February with the Wild Katahdin Snow Run and concluded with the Caribou Labor Day Race. Runners accumulated points for each race they participated in and how they finished. Overall winners were Susan Plissey for the women and Jeff Ashby for the men.
Age group winners were for the women: 15-18 Julie Carson, 19-29 Rene Laliberty, 30-39 Angela Ewings, 40-49 Linda Mountain, 50-59 Connie McLellan.
For the men: 14 and under Kevin Strid, 15-18 Spencer McElwain, 19-29 Evan Graves, 30-39 Thomas Beckam, 40-49 Rob Langner, 50-59 Paul (Waldo) Libby, 60-69 Joe Beasley.
The banquet will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle. There will be a meeting for club members at 1 p.m., with a potluck meal to begin at 2 p.m. and the awards to follow. The banquet is open to all who would like to celebrate the sport of running in the County.
