Students in Nannette Mills’ Poetry class

and put their thoughts in poetry form.

Veterans!!!
By Ashley Mertz

Fathers, mothers, sons and daughters.
Some call them soldiers,
Some call them heroes.
The veterans of today and years ago have fought with honor.
Some have killed
With regret.
Lots of lives have been risked and lots of lives taken
but the memories
and spirits of men
Will carry on, never forgotten, never let go.
Living through hell
and fighting with honor,
Times of victory and times of defeat all are memories.
Heroes of this world, always remembered until the end of time.
Men fighting for love.
Men fighting for remembrance.
Their lives continue on forever,
Along with the gratitude to them for their service.
The heroes of our time.
THE VETERANS!!!!

By Kortney Hatch and Sheridan McCordic
When I think of veterans
I think of honor.
When I think of veterans
I think of loyalty.
When I think of veterans
I think of trust.
When I think of veterans
I think of what they have done for our country.
When I think of veterans
I think of them leaving their homes
With fear in their eyes
Not knowing when or if they will return.
When I think of veterans
I think of America
And where we would be
without them.
Without their courage
Without their fight
Without them war
would never cease.

By Ray Ivey
To those that have fought
To those that have died
To those that have survived
We salute to all
Some were missed
Some were lost
Some were forgotten
We salute to all
To those that are here
To those that are gone
WE SALUTE TO ALL

A Heart So True
By Hodgdon High School Teacher Nannette M. Mills

and dedicated to our men and women who bravely serve our country; past, present and future
He leaves the home
he loves so well
To unknown places
he must dwell
His wife and children
hold back their tears
Praying God’s strength
amid their fears
There are no words
for what you do
You live a life
with a heart so true
No greater gift can one man give
Than his life
so innocents may live
We’ll not forget your noble fight
As we lie safely
in our beds at night
