The Idea Factory Inc. has just finished up production on the second in a series of recruiting DVD’s that Houlton Regional Hospital produced to help the human resource department with recruiting.

The first video focused on what nursing is like today and helped dispel some of the stereotypic images that High School students might have about what nurses roles are at HRH.
“The whole staff at HRH was just great to work with,” said Michael Fawcett production manager for The Idea Factory. “Janene Stewart director of human resources, Dorris Kenedy director of nursing and Barbara Bossie, Director of Ancillary Services and Regulatory Compliance all had a very clear vision of who there audience was and let us make the kind of video that can hold the attention of high school students”.
The nursing video was such a success that a second DVD was made to show all of the other career opportunities in Diagnostic Support Services. That video previewed five different departments and showed how they all work together.
Laboratory, Radiology, Physical Therapy, Respiratory and the Pharmacy. Shooting in a working hospital has it’s challenges and you never know when an emergency will come through the door or a mother goes into labor so they had to keep the equipment ready to move at all times, not to mention trying to fine a semi quit place to do interviews. Many of the staff ( including the directors) helped out with playing the role of patients and even allowed us to draw a blood sample, now that’s a dedicated staff.
Janene Stewart shows the DVD to area high schools and the video will be added to the hospitals websitein the near future.
