PRESQUE ISLE – The Aroostook County Branch of the American Red Cross-Pine Tree Chapter is offering a Babysitter’s Training Monday, Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Red Cross office located at 141 State St. in Presque Isle. Adolescents, ages 11 to 15, can get the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to care for infants and children. This training teaches participants to:
• Develop leadership skills
• Perform first aid and CPR
• Know how to get medical help fast
• Identify common safety hazards and prevent injuries
• Make good, responsible decisions
• Supervise infants through school-aged children
• Choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games
• Perform basic care routines such as diapering, feeding and dressing
Participants will receive a special portfolio and an American Red Cross Certificate for the training and First Aid/CPR training.
The Babysitter’s Training has been reviewed and supported by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Girl Scouts of the USA, Boy Scouts of America, YMCA of the USA, Boys and Girls Clubs, JCC Association and 4-H.
