SAMHA action

The Southern Aroostook Minor Hockey Association wrapped up its Christmas tree sale fundraiser last weekend.  SAMHA would like to thank everyone that supported this event.  Special thanks goes to the Rollins Family for supplying such fine trees, Dallas Henderson for letting us use his parking lot, and all the parents and players who donated their time and efforts.
The Peabody Lawn and Leisure Atoms team took on Carlton #2 on Saturday at home.  The Peabody Lawn and Leisure Atoms came up victorious with a 7-5 victory.  The Peabody Lawn and Leisure Atoms next game is this Wednesday at Houlton against the Savings Bank of Maine Atoms.  The puck will drop at 4:30, as always admission is free.
The Houlton Internal Medicine SAMHA Ladies traveled to Bangor to play in a four game series.  Houlton skated away with a 2-2 record.
The Sage Financial Bantams were scheduled to play on Sunday but the game was cancelled due to the snowstorm.
Rules of the game:  Icing:  Icing is called when a team shoots the puck from behind the center ice red line in their defensive end, and it crosses the goal line of the other team’s defensive end without being touched by one of the offensive or defensive players.  You will see the referee or linesman behind the play raise his non-whistle hand indicating icing has occurred.  The leading linesman or referee will either raise their non-whistle hand and blow their whistle when the puck crosses the goal line stopping play, or they will wave the icing off indicating there is no icing violation.  If icing does occur the face-off is back in the offending team’s defensive end.
