Aroostook youth basketball league tryouts
The Aroostook youth basketball league is holding tryouts for grades three and four basketball on Wednesday, Dec. 19 and Thursday, Dec. 20. The registration fee is $50, and there is an additional $25 gym-time fee. Girls’ tryouts are Dec. 19 from 6:45 to 8 p.m. and Dec. 20 from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Boys’ tryouts are Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. and Dec. 20 from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Registration begins a half hour before the first tryout. Celtics fans notice
Doug Cox-Urbach, a Celtic fanatic of Presque Isle, is organizing a trip for fans from the six New England states to travel for a one week period to watch the Boston Celtics in from March 16 to 23.

Maine Winter Sports Center
On-snow education clinic for ski coaches, community volunteers and parent coaches on Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your own skis or use facility skis. The fee is $10. Lunch will be provided. Contact Mark Shea for more information.

Men’s basketball league
Men’s basketball league teams schedule informal games at the Caribou High School gym. The fee is $3 per person per day. The following dates are available from 8:30 to 10 p.m. – Jan. 2, 10, 17, 24, 30 and Feb. 7 and 14. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. – March 6, 13 and 20.
Recreation basketball
Grades one and two basketball meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Session one will meet February 26 through March 18 and session two March 20 through April 10.
Grades three and four basketball meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The program will run from February 25 to April 9. Girls in grade four have the option of playing with the boys and girls program or going into the girls four to six program.
Grades four to six girls basketball will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The program runs from Wednesday, Nov. 14 to February 13.
Grades five and six boys basketball will meet Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The program will run from Tuesday, Nov. 13 to February 12.
Power of prevention exercise
This class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Due to construction at the Recreation Center, the class will meet in the downstairs of the Lions Community Building. The class runs to Dec. 31 and is $1 per person per class.
Cary exercise class
This class meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the downstairs of the Lions Community Building through Dec. 14. The fee is $1 per person per class.
Big Rock lift tickets
The Recreation Department is selling Big Rock adult and junior lift tickets. The fees are $17 for juniors (ages six to 17) and $22 for adults.
