Now part of Stantec, Neill and Gunter also ranks

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Local consulting firm Stantec has been identified as one of the top 10 fastest-growing architecture, engineering and environmental consulting firms in the country by research firm ZweigWhite Information Services’ 2007 Hot Firm list.     Stantec, which has offices in Portland, Scarborough, Topsham and Presque Isle, was listed at number 50 last year, marking a 41-spot jump up the rankings. This year’s list also named the company one of the nation’s top three engineering/architecture firms.
Stantec acquired three Maine companies in 2007: Land Use Consultants of Portland, Woodlot Alternatives of Topsham and Neill and Gunter of Scarborough. Neill and Gunter also made the list at number 199, the firm’s first appearance in the top 200.
ZweigWhite bases its Hot Firm list on gross revenue for both fiscal year 2003 and fiscal year 2006, as verified by financial statements or income tax returns reviewed by third parties. The list is limited to firms based in the United States and Canada deriving the majority of their revenue from the practice of architecture, engineering, planning, environmental consulting or allied disciplines. Firms were ranked from first to last based on percentage growth and dollar growth.
In addition to the Hot Firm ranking, Stantec has moved up this year on Engineering News Record (ENR) magazine’s annual listing of the Top 150 Global Design Firms to number 33 from 40 based on global revenues, and to number 45 from 58 on the Top 500 Design Firms ranking based on revenues generated nationally.
